Hi there!

I am John - writer of Dare To Be Uncool and the founder of the Dare To Be Uncool project. The mission of this project is to provide tools for overcoming social stigma and the common desire to want to “fit in”.

This book started as somewhat of a reflection exercise - looking back at my off and on 10 year struggle with drugs, staggering debt, poor friend and dating choices, plus the “why” behind all my failures.

A critical “why” became quickly and abundantly apparent - “I care too much about being considered cool”. This exercise led me on a journey of sorting out “how” I grew from then to now. This cumulated into the book, workbook, and eventually my dating book, The Dating Resume.

As I worked to complete Dare To Be Uncool, it became apparent, that this message was not just to be written, but worn. Shortly after, Not Cool Apparel was born.

Beyond the clothing line, my long-term vision is to build a community that transcends the social likings of today - where together we can encourage each other to live as the people God has called us to be.
